Following the principle of the masterplan scheme established through planning permission granted in2013, the improvement of university’s Chelmsford Campus aimed to be redeveloped to become a high quality, sustainable campus supporting the university in providing excellent staff and student experience. We were approached to completed the innovative architectural design of the Medbic building for business innovation centre for medical and advanced engineering studies.

As the centre is to be used by staff and students across a range of educational levels, spaces had to be designed to be inclusive for all and allow the research centre to be unique in its design. This was achieved through the use of materials and structure to create a colourful, unfamiliar and high quality design, all edging towards the building use of research and discovery.
