Scene Architects at the Skills Festival in Chelmsford

Scene Architects had the pleasure of participating in the Skills Festival at Anglia Ruskin University Writtle in Chelmsford. Partnering with Superstructures in the “Step Up” zone, we showcased innovative and sustainable building practices, highlighting the critical connection between design and structural engineering.

Our Partnership and Interactive Offerings

Teaming up with Superstructures allowed us to provide delegates with diverse insights and experiences. Scene Architects presented an engaging VR walk-through of one of our projects, illustrating the synergy between architectural design and structural engineering. Despite having only one VR headset, the offering was well-received, and the excitement among delegates was palpable.

Engaging with the Festival Community

Throughout the event, we took the opportunity to explore other stands and engage with fellow delegates. This interaction was invaluable, sparking creative ideas and providing inspiration for future events. Observing what other companies brought to the table helped us understand the broader landscape of sustainable practices in the industry.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Engaging with the younger generation at the Skills Festival was particularly rewarding for several reasons:

🌟 Inspiration and Empowerment: Introducing children and young adults to the world of architecture and engineering ignites their imagination and creativity. It empowers them to envision a future where they can play a vital role in building a more sustainable world.

🌱 Future Innovators: Today’s youth are tomorrow’s innovators. By exposing them to eco-friendly building practices and sustainable design strategies early on, we are nurturing a more environmentally conscious generation, ready to tackle future challenges.

🛠️ Hands-On Learning: Interactive experiences, like the VR walk-throughs, provide a hands-on approach to learning. This not only makes the learning process fun and engaging but also helps in better retention of knowledge and concepts.

🎓 Building Interest in STEM: Our participation in events like the Skills Festival is instrumental in fostering interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. This is crucial as we need more skilled professionals in these areas to drive innovation and sustainable development.

🌍 Shaping a Sustainable Future: Sharing our knowledge and experiences with the younger generation is incredibly fulfilling. Their enthusiasm and curiosity remind us that we are positively impacting their educational journey and, ultimately, the planet. Our participation in such events is vital for contributing to a brighter, more sustainable future for the younger generation.

đź‘Ź Community and Connection: Events like the Skills Festival strengthen our connection with the community. They provide a platform to share our passion and commitment to sustainable building with others, fostering a collective effort towards a common goal. This sense of community is what makes these events truly special and impactful.

Looking Ahead

Kudos to Scene Architects and Superstructures for their dedication to inspiring the next generation and promoting sustainable building practices. Let’s continue to encourage and mentor young minds, guiding them to build a greener and brighter future.

How You Can Help:

Let’s come together and make waves of change!

Let us set the

We have evolved

In August 2022, DAP Architecture merged with Emptage Architects and became Scene Architects.

Scene Architects burst into life with a bold visual brand and standout website. We also threw an unforgettable launch party to celebrate our evolution. If you’re wondering what these changes mean, or how and why they came about, here’s our story:

A change of scene

DAP Architecture was already a respected studio and a known specialist for residential projects. We were evolving, and our company culture and ambition had changed over time. In short, we were poised for growth.

When DAP had the opportunity to collaborate with Emptage Architects, everything fell into place. A merger offered us greater diversity of projects and the chance to specialise in other sectors such as commercial, leisure, and education.

This was a unique opportunity, and we took it. Rebranding meant we could mark this turning point, clarify our values and direction, and ensure our visual image reflected the unstoppable creative energy of the studio.

The name – chosen by our team – is far more than just a change of logo. Scene Architects represents the creativity, innovation, and collaboration we work towards every single day.

New on the scene

So, who and what is SCENE? The good news is the quality of work, team and directors remain the same – with the addition of Peter Emptage.

Clients will still enjoy the highest standards of work from a team who always go that extra mile. Our new visuals say it all – we’re an energised company, run by creative collaboration, with room to grow.

SCENE is our team, and with that in mind we’ll be encouraging everyone to flourish and bring their best, individual selves to the office every day. We’ll also be looking for architects of the future through our apprenticeship scheme, and actively recruiting new team members as we grow.

We’ll continue to use the latest digital and interactive tools, offering experiential, tactile encounters that spark the public’s imagination. You can read more about our resources here.

Arriving on the scene

On August 24th 2022, we were incredibly excited to share our growth story and new brand with over 200 people, made up of partners, colleagues, clients, team members, and friends, at our launch party. In the stunning grounds of Baddow Park House, amongst wine and canapés, fire-breathers and dancers, guests enjoyed a peek into what they can expect from us in the future:

  • Innovation: we showcased the best of our 3D modelling, touchscreen consultation tools, and the much talked about immersion room – where floor-to-ceiling stretch screens and projectors offered a fully immersive, 3D, fly-through experience of a site.
  • Growth: The directors’ speeches and brand video highlighted our desire to continually grow and improve, building networks, exploring tech developments, and seeking out new sectors.
  • Exceeding expectations: It’s no coincidence that guests had every detail of the event taken care of by us, from a delicious spread and jaw-dropping entertainment, right up to their taxi home. We always aim to go further for our clients.

“It was an outstanding night, unforgettable. Every detail had clearly been thought out with such care. The new brand is incredible, really energetic, and the immersion room was an impressive addition to the night. It will be a pleasure to continue working with Scene Architects in the future and we look forward to maintaining our flourishing partnership” Jamie Braha, Landvest.

What’s next?

As you can see, we haven’t lost our love of spending time with our clients and the desire to throw a good party! You can look forward to more social events and get-togethers in the near future, as well as being able to reach us in all the usual ways.

We’ll be expanding into other sectors, testing and rolling out the latest innovative tech, whether software or hardware, and seeking out the best ways to relay consultation narratives to the general public, staying abreast of new trends and legislations along the way.

We’re deeply proud and thrilled with SCENE’s new visual identity – for us, it says everything about where we’re heading – towards further creativity, growth, innovation, and quality.

Get on the scene with us

From the whole team at Scene Architects, we’d like to sincerely thank everyone who has shown us their support during the launch.
